Verne Q. Powell Grenadilla Wood Flute w/Silver Keys #10947

Powell Flute #10947,  Grenadilla wood body,  silver keys: B Foot w/gizmo, Open Hole, Offset G, Split E, Open Hole, A=442.

This Powell was built in 2000 for Tara Helen O’Connor, and it is clear that utmost care was put into its creation.  Some instruments seem to *play themselves*, and this is one of them.  Warmth, power, subtlety, beauty and accuracy are present in each octave.  The dynamic range is broad and the tonal palette rich and full.  Attack is comfortable and tapering notes seems to be built into this flute.  The wood body brings its own well-defined character, but the response makes one think it is a silver flute.  Nothing else to say except: this is a stunning instrument!

In perfect condition.  Straubinger pads, though not new, will not need to be changed for a number of years to come.
